Dr. Clara Mavellia (founder of the Cultural Entrepreneurship Institute in Berlin)

Clara Mavellia, originally from Milan, received her doctorate at the Freie Universität in Berlin, the city where she has been working as an academic and journalist ever since. From 2005 to 2008 she commuted between Berlin and Munich to attend the interdisciplinary MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität.

In March 2010 she founded the Cultural Entrepreneurship Institute in order to promote the application of ethical pinciples in business and in practical life. For this to happen, students, trainees, start-ups and citizens in general must be able to access information about the theory and diversity of ethics in practice. The Institute holds regular international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral conferences – such as in 2013 at the Freie Universität in Berlin (Germany) and the Handelshögskolan in Göteborg (Sweden) and in June 2014 at the Munich Centre for Ethics affiliated to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. In June 2015 the conference Ethics and Food was held in Milan under the patronage of the Expo Scientific Committee. On 24 June 2016 the conference on the island of Capri (Italy) was devoted to Ethics and Aesthetics. On 28 October 2019 the Institute held the conference Ethics and Digitalization in cooperation with the Venice International University in Venice (San Servolo). CM also interviews people – scientists, entrepreneurs, politicians – whose pursue their causes with commitment, competence and passion, a source of particular inspiration for the audience.

At a Pulse of Europe event in Berlin in April 2017 CM launched a call to EU Women.
